Resident Activities Coordinator Needed to Join a Growing Team

A critical piece of this mission is to not just manage the medical side of members’ lives, but also to provide a positive, uplifting and exciting socialization, with ample opportunities to participate in fun, unique activities daily. The Activities Coordinator is the central piece of this socially-driven arm of the center, and is responsible for planning, organizing and developing the overall operation of the Activities Department, in keeping with the ever-changing needs of Senior LIFE’s membership.
While creating a robust schedule of diverse activities that best aligns with members’ psychological well-being is the core of this role. The Activities Coordinator must also oversee a number of other key responsibilities, including:
Administering all activities functions as they relate to group and individual Plans of Care for Senior LIFE
Supervising and training activities staff,
Managing all activities-based project assignments, including program execution on time and on budget
Developing and executing therapeutic programs, centering on social and recreational activities, always keeping focused on the unique needs of the center’s elderly population
Ensuring a safe, positive environment for all members as well as activities department staff
Ensuring activities staff alignment with the interdisciplinary care plan approach, while serving as a key voice on these larger teams
Providing individualized support and assistance for members requiring additional care during activities and programming
Ongoing inspection of and audits for activities, recreational spaces and equipment, ensuring compliance with all center, state and federal mandates
The Activities Coordinator will also be responsible for managing and overseeing a number of administrative functions for the department, including relevant documentation to medical records. Additionally, the Activities Coordinator will be expected to participate in ongoing professional development and training to ensure full compliance with industry-wide protocol as well as to keep Senior LIFE’s activities program highly competitive in the marketplace.
Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in a social or recreational role that specifically centers on the elderly community.Strong communication skills as well as an ability to thrive and inspire in a team-based setting are key to this role. An ability to organize, prioritize, and effectively implement new practices and procedures and a desire to effect positive change within an underserved community are also essential characters Senior LIFE looks for in this role.
Since some travel to member's homes is required, a valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation is also mandatory.
